There's a new animal in town following the steps of Paul the Octopus. For those who live under a rock, Paul was an octopus purportedly used to predict the results of association football matches and guessed the winners of the 2010 World Cup. He died in 2010. Now, with the 2018 World Cup in full swing, there's a new animal in Argentina ~seemingly~ taking the crown.
Behold, Wendy the Llama, resident of the Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences of the Catholic University of Salta (UCASal), who recently predicted the winners of the soccer matches taking place in Russia.
Wendy's predictions go far beyond the first games since she did not limit herself to those selected for the opening games. In the video, documented by YouTuber @LasCronicasDeJoaco, the llama predicted that Argentina will be the great winner of this edition of the Soccer World Cup.
The mechanics are simple: different flags of popular national teams were placed in buckets with food. Out of all the buckets, Wendy chose Argentina. Although initially, it seemed as if she was going for Germany.
Argentina vs. Germany for the final? Sounds promising! But veterinary students who work with Wendy on a daily basis assure that her predictions have been met on numerous occasions.
Wendy still does not have enough popularity and credibility to make fans believe that she may be right, but a lot of soccer aficionados already agree with her prediction.
If Wendy's prophecy came true, this would be the fifth World Cup that Argentina would take home. Do you think it will happen? Do you prefer Wendy the Llama or Paul the Octopus? Tell us in the comments.
