Gina Rodriguez is not only the lead star in Jane the Virgin, but she's also a Golden Globe winner, a director, a producer, and a passionate philanthropist. She's a woman, she's Latina, and she's kicking ass in Hollywood!
At the 2018 SAG Awards, where she presented an award alongside Megan Mullally, Rodriguez opened up about a topic that hits close to home: Latinos in Hollywood.
During a live red carpet interview with E!, the Puerto Rican actress gave a big shout out to Sony for putting a Latino as a lead star in their upcoming action flick, Miss Bala. She also was annoyed by the fact that not many companies are doing the same and of course, called out the lack of Latinos in films and television.
"I mean, we do make 55 million plus of the country, no big deal, you should throw us in a movie or two, it would make sense," she said of Latinos in the U.S. "We do buy in one in every four tickets every single weekend and make sure your movies do well. So it would do you service and it would be integrity," she added.
After she schooled us with the facts, Rodriguez went back to giving Sony and Paramount major love. "Thank you, Paramount and Sony because you are opening the doors."
