It’s been 10 years since we first met the Russo family on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, and five since we said goodbye in 2012. Maybe it’s time to see what they’ve been up to, and fans might just be in for a treat.
Over the weekend, Selena Gomez snapchatted with David Henrie, her brother on WOWP, having dinner, hanging out, and talking about what their characters would be up to.
“David, I feel like we should do a reunion,” she blatantly said. Ummmm… yes please!
They speculated that if the show were still running, Gomez’s character Alex would be “for sure single,” and “killing the game,” and Justin, Henrie’s character, would be “running the college” and would “have like fifteen children.” Their little brother Max would be “making sandwiches on the street,” because the sub shop went out of business.
“Maybe Max is married,” Henrie said. “Maybe he’s married, he met a really nice girl, he’s overweight now, because he’s not the wizard.”
All this speculation is fine and dandy, but what are the chances WOWP gets picked up for a revival? Netflix, we’re looking at you.
On the cusp of the Fuller House, One Day At A Time, and Gilmore Girls revivals, maybe incorporating a Disney show might not be a bad idea.
According to MTV, series creator David Greenwald, along with Jake T. Austin (Max), Maria Canals-Barrera (Theresa), and David DeLuise (Jerry) have all said they’d be down to make a reunion, and Greenwald himself tweeted, “I’m thinking a grown-up theatrical version of #wowp would be kinda fresh.”
Here’s hoping everything is what it seems, and that we don’t run into trouble if we go to extremes… because this is all we’ve wanted in our wildest dreams.
Sorry. I had to.
