Selena Quintanilla's Dad Does NOT Want The TV Show About Her Relationship With Chris Perez To Air

ICYMI, Selena Quintanilla’s husband Chris Perez recently announced via Facebookthat the book he wrote about his and Quintanilla’s relationship, To Selena With Love, will be adapted into a TV show by Major TV and Endemol Shine. Super exciting, we know, but don’t get your hopes up just yet.

According to Forbes, Selena’s dad Abraham Quintanilla Jr. filed a lawsuit in a Texas court against Perez and Endemol Shine to stop production.

“The suit states Perez is in violation of an Estate Properties Agreement he signed two months after her death in 1995,” says Forbes.

“That agreement stipulates that Quintanilla, Jr. is the exclusive rights holder of all ‘Entertainment Properties,’ which includes contract, trademark and copyright rights, rights to income, rights of publicity, rights to name, voice, signature, and photographs, among other rights, ‘throughout the world in perpetuity without restriction.’”

So basically, Selena’s dad is the legal owner of everything having to do with her career, and just by publishing his book, Perez was in breach of contract.

This sucks. If they can’t come to an agreement, it looks like we’ll be saying goodbye to the hopes of a Selena show anytime soon.
