The fashion world is mourning the unexpected death of New York designer, Kate Spade. She was 55.
The housekeeper found Spade dead Tuesday morning in her New York City apartment, according to TMZ. Official sources report that the designer died of an apparent suicide and hanged herself using a scarf tied to her bedroom door knob. There was a note left behind.
Born Katherine Noel Brosnahan in Kansas City, Missouri, Spade and her husband Andy Spade launched the design company in 1993, where they initially sold handbags. The brand later extended to jewelry, clothing, stationary, fragrances, and much more.
In 2007, Spade sold her company to raise her now 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade. In 2016, Spade launched a new brand called Frances Valentine in honor of her daughter.
The brand and family members have yet to release an official statement. May she R.I.P.
