If tattoos are meant to be shown off, then why are people getting them on their armpits? That’s a question for Instagram, where over 7,000 people have used the hashtag #armpittattoo to show off their body art, albeit it being in a rather unconventional spot.
Although super cool-looking, armpit tattoos don’t come without a little pain. In fact, Inked Magazine reports that your armpit is one of the most painful bodily regions to get tattooed, right along with the face and the nipples. It even qualifies as “Pass Out” level, meaning you better really want that tattoo in order to withstand the pain.
On a more positive note, the cool thing about them is that you can get as big of a piece as you want, and you don’t even have to go the extra mile to conceal it if you need to. Plus, it’s a cool way to put something beautiful on an often overlooked (except when shaving) area of the body. From spiderwebs to flowers, people have gotten creative with armpit tattoos and are proudly showing off their ink online. Here are a few of our faves.
