This Is Why Men Send Dick Pics, In Theory

I have yet to meet one woman that enjoys receiving random photos of the infamous trouser snake. Unfortunately, that still doesn’t deter men from sending them. Sending dick pics has either threatened or ended the careers of superstar athletes and politicians, but for some reason many men just can't knock it off.

In reality, there could be any number of explanations as to why this happens. Thankfully, someone who wrote a textbook on the psychology of human sexuality has shed some light on a few of them. Here are three theories why Harvard sex scholar Justin Lehmiller shared with New York magazine the three theories on why he believes men can't refrain from sharing selfies that show off their meatsicle.

1. Men think women are more attracted to them than they actually are.

Studies have proven that men often overestimate the level of attraction that females have towards them. Anything that a woman does can be misinterpreted as a sign of attraction and prompts a man to attempt to move things forward. Unfortunately, that sometimes results in an unwanted dick pic. That's also the same reason that the opposite sex has trouble being just friends.

2. It's an evolutionary thing.

When a man thinks that everyone who looks at him wants him, he shoots his shot at everyone in order to pursue every opportunity to have sex. In nature that increases reproductive odds pretty much the same as many wild animals do, except they are actually attempting to reproduce. While men are just attempting to bone as much as possible. In a digital age, that logic translates to sending a pic of your package to see if you really have a chance.

3. Some men do it for the thrill.

Not every man has a deep rhyme or reason to why they do what they do. It sounds sick, but some men just get joy out of sending something lewd. Exhibitionists have been flashing their junk in public for centuries. Now they can easily do it online with far less chances of facing consequences.
