At this point, you've likely heard the phrase "Galentine's Day" at least once, but do you know what it means?

As the name would suggest, Galentine's Day is a celebration of female friendship and women empowerment. The term became popular following the release of an episode of "Parks and Recreation."

Today, thanks to Leslie Knope played by actress Amy Poehler, the unofficial holiday is celebrated every year on February 13th. It's a kind of party before Valentine's Day, or it can act as a substitute if you're not celebrating anything this Thursday.

So, grab a couple of your favorite gal pals, and celebrate your friendship.
