As if you already didn't know, Micheal Phelps is a former competitive swimmer, who's won the most Olympic medals with 28 medals (23 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze).
What you probably didn't know is that he's coming out of retirement for his next venture: racing a Great White Shark. I know, is he out of his mind?!
As part of Discovery's Shark Week, the 31-year-old athlete will indeed race a shark in a special called Phelps VS. Shark: Great Gold VS. Great White, airing at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 23.
They are one of the fastest and most efficient predators on the planet: Sharks. He is our greatest champion to ever get in the water: Michael Phelps. 39 world records. 23 Olympic golds. But he has one competition left to win. An event so monumental no one has ever attempted it before. The world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator: Phelps V Shark – the race is on! reads the official press release.
Phelps, seemingly, is a sucker for sharks, as he recently was in the ocean with them and was extremely stoked.
Twitter, on the other hand, came out to play with concerns and questions. We get it, we're scared too!
