Dating my complete opposite was one of the best things to ever happen to me. In the back of my mind I knew that the relationship wouldn't work. Not saying that yours won’t, but it all boils down to personality. My personality was entirely too strong. With all the good and bad that came from it, I don't regret that it's over. I can say that it made me a well-rounded person and better prepared me for the person that I’m meant to be with.

There is never a dull moment when you date your complete opposite. If you're the outgoing type, it’s hard to get tired of convincing your laid back partner to try new things. As the laid back type, coming out of my comfort zone is crucial for personal growth. I enjoyed having someone that compelled me to try things that I otherwise would have shied away from.

Being forced to hang out with your partner's oddball friends helps break down prejudices. I often enjoyed being exposed to people with several different personality types that I normally wouldn't have been exposed to. You can learn something from everyone that you come in contact with. Past relationships taught me that there are many different ways other than my own to perceive the world around me. You have more in common than you think.

I’m the type of person that if I go to a restaurant and my food doesn't come out the way that I want it to, I’m not going to complain, but I won't return. I’m such a reserved person that having a partner that is outspoken completes me. The people you are around bring out a side of you that you may not have known was there. Over time I’ve become more outspoken myself.

The last thing you want to do is lose yourself in your partner's personality. It’s important to be able to adapt to your partner without sacrificing who you naturally are. Learning how and when to be submissive helps in multiple areas of life. By doing so you become a more well-rounded individual.

The thing that benefited me the most from being in a relationship with my complete opposite is I learned myself. It also reassured me of what I truly want and need in a life partner. No romantic relationship is a waste of time because every one of them makes you a better person, as long as you learn from it. If nothing else, hopefully you had fun in the process.
