Fanny packs were a HUGE fashion trend in the '90s. Just ask Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
If you're too young to be a millennial and have NO idea what a fanny pack is, let us school you. A fanny pack is a small pouch with zippers that is strapped around your hips or waist. It's very useful for when you go on trips, working out, or when you don't want to carry around a purse.
It might be considered "old-fashioned," but some fashion influencers are making sure the fanny back makes a glorious comeback! Just check out these fabulous ladies rocking them:

I’m sorry (not really) that I can’t be graceful like all the pretty bloggers in their bird pictures, because first of all, my trench coat is too wrinkly, however, I can state that my biggest accomplishment today was taking this picture without getting 💩💩💩 on. #CBgoestoParis

With the fanny pack coming back into our lives, we bet you never knew that International Fanny Pack Day was a thing in the first place and the reason behind it is actually heartwarming.
The heartfelt story behind Fanny Pack Day
International Fanny Pack Day has been celebrated every year on March 12 for the past 11 years. Although it's a day to show your Fanny Pack pride, there's a sweet reason why this "holiday" was created. Founded by Nick Yates in 2007, Fanny Pack Day is much more than a day to make a fashionable statement—it's a day to shed light on world hunger.
What does one thing have to do with another, you ask?
Yates linked the two things after receiving a fanny pack and fruitcake as gifts one Christmas, as reported by Days of the Year. He put the cake inside the pouch and on his way home had an encounter with a homeless man whom he gave the cake to as a kind gesture. This incident sparked Yates to get in contact with food banks and create a movement where people hand out food to the needy while wearing their fanny packs.
Want to celebrate and join the cause? Grab your favorite fanny, store food and goodies inside of it, and hand them out to your community. It's that simple!
