Besides being the first American Idol winner and an award-winning powerhouse, Kelly Clarkson is also a mother to two adorable toddlers: a 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son.
At the recent SHE Summit that took place in New York City, the 35-year-old singer opened up about empowering her little princess, River Rose.
She admitted to having a lot of mom guilt and wanting to be with her kids every day. But at the same time, it's important for them to know that a woman is able to kick ass while also being a kickass mom.
With her music career and new projects, there have been times that the Because of You singer has felt like throwing in the towel, but in the end, she knows that her hard work as a mommy is worth it—and empowering to her children.
"I try to just be a confident female for her — and I believe actions obviously speak louder than words, it's an old saying but it's very true," she said at the summit, according to Delish.
"I'm sure [all of my kids will] end up in therapy for something. But I hope it won't be for lack of confidence. And, I want my boys to not be afraid of that. It's a turn on [for my husband] that I'm a pretty badass female; boys that I dated before, they got intimidated by it, that's not fair to me because I work very hard. So I'm glad our boys and also our girls have a man to look [up to], who shows them, 'this is how treat a woman, this is how you respect a woman.' He takes his daughter on dates and shows her, 'this is what a guy should do.'"
Agreed, Kelly! ?
