Kelly Clarkson rose to fame after winning the inaugural American Idol in 2002. Since, she has topped the Billboard charts, won numerous awards including three Grammys, and will soon release her eighth studio album, Meaning of Life.
When she's not in the spotlight, she's the loving mother of a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy.
Although she keeps a low profile as a celeb, the Because of You singer has been body-shamed for putting on some weight throughout her career. Clarkson, however, claps back each time because she's fearless and a badass!
After 15 years in the biz, the 35-year-old songstress has opened up about her weight and mental health.
In an interview with Attitude magazine, Clarkson revealed that she was actually unhappy during the beginning of her career.
"I was miserable, like inside and out, for four years of my life," she said. "But no one cared because aesthetically you make sense."
"It was a very dark time for me. I thought the only way out was quitting. I like wrecked my knees and my feet because all I would do is put in headphones and run. I was at the gym all the time," she added.
Initially, the magazine noted that Clarkson stated she was "really skinny and unhappy and wanted to kill herself" because producers forced her to be skinny.
The Since U Been Gone singer later clarified her statements on Twitter, stating that she has never had suicidal thoughts.
But seriously people, thin or curvy, who cares?!
If there's one thing we know far too well, it's that Clarkson is not only a tremendous powerhouse singer but she's beautiful both inside and out.
