Exactly a year ago, we were blessed with Turkish butcher Nusret Gökçe and the sexy way he slices meat and sprinkles salt—the internet forever named him #SaltBae. Come 2018, we were blessed with yet another viral chef sensation.
He's responsible for taking the crown from Nusret.
But first, let me backtrack a bit. Rogelio is a cook at the family-owned restaurant El Camino Real Mexican Food in Fullerton, Calif., who became an internet sensation thanks to his sultry cilantro-chopping ways.
His talent was showcased by the restaurant's owner's daughter Rebecca Castañeda, who posted a nearly three-minute-long video on Twitter of Rogelio chopping a huge batch of coriander like there's no tomorrow. According to Rebecca, the video was first posted on Snapchat and received crazy feedback of people who found it satisfying.
Originally, the video was filmed so that people at Chipotle get schooled on chopping cilantro. "I recently transferred to state and moved to San Diego and I got a job at Chipotle," explained Rebecca. "My dad made me originally record this video to send to my manager, so they can see how 'chingones' chop cilantro."
Almost 5 million views later on Twitter, Rogelio has been crowned #CilantroBae or #CilantroPapi, whatever floats your boat.
The Twitterverse is already obsessed!
