What’s delicious, inexpensive, flavorful, and brand spankin’ new all at the same time? Hint: it has to do with everyone’s favorite fast food chain and an innovation that you’ve probably never heard of before. Behold, McDonalds’ Signature Sriracha sandwich... with KALE.
The new item is part of Mickey D’s Signature Crafted Recipes menu, which allows customers to customize their sandwiches by choosing their bun (artisan, sesame seed, or potato), their flavor (Pico Guacamole, Maple Bacon Dijon, Sweet BBQ Bacon, or Signature Sriracha), and their protein (Buttermilk Crispy Chicken, Artisan Grilled Chicken or a 100 percent pure beef patty). The Signature Sriracha sandwich comes with the exclusive Sriracha Big Mac sauce, white cheddar cheese, crispy onions, a tomato slice, and a leafy mix of baby spinach and baby kale. NOM.
But wait, it gets better. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, the Sriracha Mac sauce will also be available as a dipping sauce for a limited time. DOUBLE NOM.
“Signature Sriracha provides our customers with an exclusive blend of two wildly popular flavors, Sriracha and Big Mac Special Sauce, creating a spicy flavor in a way only McDonald’s can do,” said Bob Sutherland, president of San Diego County McDonald’s Owner/Operators Association, in an official press release. “The new flavor and Signature Crafted Recipes Menu are just a few of the many ways we’re changing to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Unfortunately, you can’t try it out just yet, as it won’t be made available until later this month. McDonald’s began rolling the sandwich out slowly at the end of June in their San Diego and Los Angeles restaurants, and in early July in their Seattle locations. Now, Nation’s Restaurant News reports that the chain is distributing the new recipe to locations across the country, and will begin advertising it on July 31.
