10 Cocktail Recipes That'll Make Your Mother's Day Brunch Amazing

Sorry to break it to you, but Mother's Day is just around the corner. I know, I know, it's a couple of days away and you have yet to buy mom a gift. I feel ya!

But for those last-minute shoppers, like myself, there are other options out there than a bouquet of roses or Gucci perfume. How about brunch? I mean, it's only ideal since the holiday falls on a Sunday.

Although we're sure the special lady in your life will love going to her favorite brunch spot, nothing will be more meaningful than her daughter or son actually preparing the meal.

We've got a few cocktail ideas that'll go great with those poached eggs and avocado toast. All you really need to do is go to the grocery and get mixing!

1. Passion Fruit Pisco Sour

Pair with Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon Bagel; Recipe here


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) Pisco
  • 2 ounces (1/4 cup) fresh, frozen, or bottled passion fruit juice
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup crushed ice

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 4)

  1. Boil sugar and water in a pot for 2 minutes to make syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Mix pisco, passion fruit juice, and lime juice in a blender.
  3. Add sugar water, ice, and egg white.
  4. Blend until mixture is frothy and ice is crushed.

2. Smoky Bloody Mary

  • 6 slices peppered bacon
  • 3 ¼ cups tomato juice
  • 1 ¼ cups of vodka
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 6 stalks celery with leaves

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 6)

  1. Cook the bacon over medium heat until golden and crisp; drain oil.
  2. Mix tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper; refrigerate.
  3. Pour the Bloody Mary mixture into ice-filled glasses.
  4. Add a piece of bacon and a celery stalk to each.

3. Classic mimosas

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle of dry sparkling wine
  • 3 cups orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • 1/2 cup of Grand Marnier or triple sec (optional)

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 8)

  1. Fill 8 champagne flutes with 1/2 sparkling wine.
  2. Top with orange juice.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of Grand Marnier or triple sec, if using.

4. Coconut Mojito

  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 lime wedges
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 ½ tablespoons of white rum
  • 1 tablespoon of Malibu coconut rum
  • 2 tablespoons of cream of coconut
  • Ice
  • 1 cup chilled club soda
  • Pinch of grated coconut

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 1)

  1. Place 6 fresh mint leaves, 3 lime wedges, and brown sugar at the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add white rum, coconut rum, and cream of coconut.
  3. Fill shaker with ice, and stir vigorously until chilled. Strain mixture into a tall glass, and top with chilled club soda. Garnish, if desired.

5. Peach Bellini

  • 2 medium-sized peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 bottle Prosecco, champagne or dry sparkling wine

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 6)

  1. Puree peaches, water, lemon juice and sugar in a blender until smooth.
  2. Fill a champagne flute a quarter full of the puree.
  3. Top off with Prosecco, champagne or sparkling wine.

6. White Melon Sangria

  • 1 ½ cups of bite-size melon pieces
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 2 tablespoons triple sec or 2 tablespoons other orange-flavored liqueur
  • 3/4 cup sparkling water or 3/4 cup club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Limes or star fruit, slices (to garnish)
  • 1 small mint sprig (to garnish)

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 6)

  1. Stir melon and sugar together in a large pitcher.
  2. Let stand for 15 to 30 minutes to draw out the juices.
  3. Stir wine, brandy, Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur) and sparkling water (or club soda) into the pitcher.
  4. Add ice cubes to 6 glasses.
  5. Fill the glasses with sangria, spooning some of the fruit into each glass.
  6. Garnish each drink with a slice of lime (or starfruit) and a sprig of mint.

7. Watermelon Margarita

  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 limes, 2 juiced and 1 cut into wedges for garnish
  • 8 ounces tequila
  • 5 ounces Triple Sec, divided
  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

HOW TO PREPARE (serves 6)

  1. In a blender, puree the watermelon and sugar until smooth.
  2. Pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer.
  3. Pour into a pitcher and add the lime juice, tequila and 4 ounces of the Triple Sec.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. In a shallow dish, combine the kosher salt with the chili powder.
  6. In a second small plate, add the remaining 1-ounce of Triple Sec.
  7. Dip the rims of 4 margarita glasses in the Triple Sec, then coat them in the salt and chili mixture.
  8. Pour into glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

8. French 75 Cocktail

  • 1 oz Tanqueray No.TEN
  • .5 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • .5 oz Simple syrup
  • 3 oz sparkling wine to top


Shake Tanqueray No. TEN, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and pour over ice. Top with 3 oz Sparkling wine.

Garnish: Lemon twist

9. Blossom Berry

  • 3 oz Baileys Almande
  • 1/8 oz Orange Blossom Water
  • 2 drops Vanilla Extract
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 3 Strawberries Halved
  • Orange Slice for Garnish
  • Lemon Slice for Garnish


Combine Baileys Almande, orange blossom water, vanilla extract, simple syrup, lemon juice, strawberries and ice into a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour contents into glass.

Garnish: Orange and lemon slice

10. La Fresa

  • 1/3 oz Tequila Don Julio Reposado
  • 3/4 oz White Zinfandel
  • 1/2 oz Strawberry Puree
  • 1 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Dehydrated Strawberries


Combine Tequila Don Julio Reposado, White Zinfandel, strawberry puree, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake well. Strain contents into a coupe glass.

Garnish: Dehydrated strawberries
