The more I’ve grown, the more my personal style has developed. That being said, my mother’s interior know-how doesn’t really align with what I like anymore, and after scrolling through Pinterest looking to identify my interior design style, I came across Scandinavian, or Nordic, interior design. I think it might be my go-to home decor style, check out why you might like it too.
What is it?
Scandinavian interior design can be applied to any room in your house and consists of sunlight, light shades, and lots of space. This means, don’t go too crazy with the decor, let the space do more of the talking.
Key Components
One of the most common components of Scandinavian design style is wooden floors. You don’t absolutely need it, but wooden floors will definitely help bring your minimal interior decor together. If your wooden floors are a light color, it’s a plus.
White, grey, black, and taupe hues are usually a staple of this design style, but if you’re into pops of color, you can add some with pillows, throws, or area rugs.
When talking about furniture, try keeping your items minimal, in the hues mentioned above, but consider incorporating simple vintage elements.
And don’t be afraid of incorporating plant life anywhere you can.
