I'm going to get real right about now. I don't watch cable TV, I don't Keep Up with the Kardashians, and I rarely go to the movies (unless it's a press screening). In fact, all of my binge-watching is done on Netflix but sometimes I just can't find what I'm looking for.
Personally, I'm always scouting for Latino films or telenovelas, because I was raised on some Maria la del Barrio, so don't judge!
While Netflix does have a wide-range of Latino shows and flicks, it's not enough, TBH. But to my luck, 2018 has just blessed me with a new streaming app that's home to tons of Spanish-language productions.
Movies junkies, get ready to be schooled on PANTAYA. This new platform was launched by global content leader Lionsgate and Hemisphere Media Group with the hopes of giving not only Latinos but every film lover what they want.
The service is home to the largest, most current and diverse selection of Spanish-language blockbusters and films from Latin American and Hollywood. So, think everything from Oscar-nominated Amores Perros to Eugenio Derbez's Instructions Not Included to the all-time classics starring Pedro Infante.
“PANTAYA will be the one-stop-shop for fans of Spanish-language films to find the best, biggest and newest titles from the Spanish-speaking world unavailable on other platforms,” said Pantelion Films Chief Executive Officer Paul Presburger. “With our focus on exclusive premium content, our knowledge of the Hispanic consumer, and the breadth of our offering, we are positioned to deliver an OTT service to Spanish-language and bilingual consumers that is second to none.”
PANTAYA is available in the U.S. and Puerto Rico through the web, iOS, Android and the Roku platform, as well as to Prime members on Amazon Channels in the U.S. At $5.99 per month, it's ~seriously~ giving every other streaming app a run for their money.
