As if we needed another reason to love Gina Rodriguez, she just got us really excited about television. Rodriguez broke news that her production company I Can And I Will Productions has signed an exclusive deal with CBS.
The deal will have I Can And I Will Productions develop an array of works for network, streaming, and cable, Variety reports.
The Jane the Virgin star's new venture hopes to advocate for diverse cultures, who are often underrepresented in TV and the media.
As an actress, she's never been shy about calling out the lack of representation of Latinos in Hollywood. Her Instagram is riddled with #MovementMondays posts, where she shares a photo and bio of actors, athletes, movers and shakers who are not always given the spotlight they deserve. That's why is didn't shock us that she took to IG to share her hopes for this new deal, saying, "...we will INCLUDE stories unheard and faces unseen. We will make it our top priority to put women in front of and behind the camera."
CBS and I Can And I Will Productions' joint endeavour isn’t the only project Rodriguez has with the TV giant, she will also release her upcoming book I Can And I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me with Simon & Schuster, a sister company of CBS.
We cannot wait to see which stories she brings to life on the small screen.
