As if you didn’t already think the world was getting creepier day by day with the rise of fake news, conspiracy theories (see: PizzaGate), and too many things becoming reminiscent of The Handmaid’s Tale and Brave New World, turns out it’s possible for it to get, well, weirder.
The beloved ride-sharing app Uber is being sued by its former forensic investigator after he was accused of being a whistleblower. According to the ex foreign investigator, Samuel Ward Spangenberg, Uber employees have been known to track “high-profile politicians, celebrities and even personal acquaintances of Uber employees, including ex-boyfriends/girlfriends, and ex-spouses.”
He also mentioned that the driver and employee info is not stored in a way that is secure and personal info is at risk. He claims he lost his job after 11 months of pointing out the security issue.
After the company’s “God View” tool was investigated, it has signed an “assurance of discontinuance,” in January, which was pretty much the company's way of saying they’d promise to lay off the sketchy creeper shit.
