The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has named J Balvin a Menswear Ambassador for New York Fashion Week, E! News reports.
The singer is one of five ambassadors, and joins the ranks of past ambassadors Dwayne Wade, Andy Cohen, and Kellan Lutz, among others.
According to Remezcla, "previous ambassadors have included other Latinos like Victor Cruz, but Balvin is the first Latino musician to be a part of the program."
As an ambassador, he’ll have a front row seat to all the major NYFW shows running from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, plus invites to all the chic events.
“My interest in fashion is only matched by my love for music, and I’m blessed to be given an opportunity to learn about some of my favorite designers from a first-hand look at their latest collection,” he told E!
“I look forward to sharing my behind the scenes access with my fans across the world to help push the culture forward, Let’s go!”
This is so exciting.
Maybe he’ll teach Anna Wintour spanish. Maybe he’ll fall in love with a supermodel. What if he decides to design his own line? What if he decides to marry me? All reasonable speculations.
Either way, this is a big deal for the Latino community —representation matters people! Let’s keep working together to ensure Latinos everywhere are working towards equal opportunity. Let’s go!
