James Charles, the 17-year-old makeup artist whose Instagram and YouTube have amassed thousands of followers in just one short year, announced Monday via Twitter that he will be starring as the face of CoverGirl’s newest campaign for their "So Lashy" mascara. Charles is CoverGirl’s very first male star, and the Internet is here.for.it.
Charles’ deal with CoverGirl is a huge accomplishment for boys in the makeup world. This is the first time a major brand that usually targets females opens the door for men to be included in the makeup conversation.
“All of our CoverGirls are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and redefining what it means to be beautiful,” CoverGirl said in a press release. “James Charles is no exception. One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to women, men, guys and girls who might have been afraid to do the same."
As the face of the campaign, Charles will star in TV, print, and digital campaigns for the brand, according to Refinery29. Here’s what you should know about our very first CoverBoy.

2. He re-took his senior portraits, and it went pretty viral.
Why didn't I think of this?
