Diego Luna isn’t the only big star using his platform to make a political statement. Russell Simmons is the most recent star using his celebrity to unite marginalized groups in the face of Donald Trump's divisive administration.
Simmons has organized "Today, I Am A Muslim Too," an event scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Time Square.
This event was started in order to show solidarity and support to Muslim Americans, who have been the target of Trump’s executive order on immigration, commonly referred to as the Muslim Ban.
The event's Facebook page reads, "There is no greater time than now to stand up for our Muslim brothers and sisters who are under increasing threat and pressure."
If you find yourself in NYC this weekend, join Russell Simmons, Imam Shamsi Ali, Rabbi Marc Schneier, Daisy Khan, and Linda Sarsour in their fight for unity.
