Miranda’s mother, Psychologist Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda, currently serves as a Planned Parenthood Action Fund board member and recently wrote a Vogue op-ed about the importance of supporting the organization.
“My mother has her own personal stories with Planned Parenthood. That’s an organization that’s really saved lives time and again,” said Miranda.
There's still time to do something incredible with @plannedparenthood and Lin Manuel Miranda! All of you @hamiltonmusical fans will not be disappointed! Miranda finds supporting the work of Planned Parenthood a no-brainer.
“Women’s health is a priority, it’s worth protecting, and if I can be of service in that way, then that’s how I’ll be of service. Full stop,” said Miranda.
Miranda currently leads a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood in the form of a "Hamilton" raffle.
Every time someone donates $10 to Planned Parenthood, they automatically qualify to be flown to all three cities that "Hamilton" will be shown in, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, including backstage meet-ups with the cast, who you will hopefully be good friends with after watching all three shows.
Miranda's support for the organization comes at a crucial time as the healthcare-provider and informed public educator has officially been defunded in Texas, a move that may be detrimental to the most vulnerable communities of the state.
